Alternating Current Field Measurement (ACFM)
Alternating Current Field Measurement (ACFM) is an electromagnetic testing method that introduces an alternating current into the surface of the component, in order to detect surface-breaking cracks. The presence of a crack disturbs the electromagnetic field, and the return signal is instantaneously converted by advanced mathematical techniques. The operator is then alerted to the presence of a defect.
Underwater inspections and immediate defect sizing and recording, are the major benefits when compared to alternative NDT methods.
